A LETTER FROM THE ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL
Thanksgiving is behind us, December has arrived, and we only have three short weeks left with our students this calendar year! There are no words to describe the way the halls of an elementary school come alive around Christmas Time. The chatter of gifts, questions about the prospects of snow, and stories of that one time Santa Claus was spotted on Main Street in Alex all fill the halls. As we share in our students' excitement for the upcoming weeks, we are able to remember how it felt to be a kid at Christmas! Coincidentally, all of the hope, joy, and love which transform the season seem to be exactly what the world and our community need right now!
As a community, there have been significant hardships, health issues, and losses during the past months. However, as it always does, the Alex Community has rallied around those affected and I am certain it will continue to do so! On that note, if there are any families who may need a food basket for Christmas, please contact the elementary office by December 4th. We had fewer families request a basket this year than ever before and we want to be sure that the food collected through our drive is distributed to families who could use it in Alex. A few dates to remember are listed below:
- Food Drive – 11-30-20 through 12-9-20
Please bring your donation of non-perishable items no later than December 9th, 2020. - Food Drive Pick-Up - 12-11-20 from 4:00-6:00
If your family requested a Food Box from the food drive, please be available to pick-up from the elementary STEM room from 4-6 on December 11th. - Santa’s Workshop – 12-14-20 through 12-18-20
Gifts will range from $0.25 to $3. - Pre-Recorded Video Concert - Week of 12-14-20
Details regarding our alternative concert will be released shortly. You can expect to have access to a pre-recorded video concert in lieu of our traditional Christmas Program during the week of 12-14-20.
As always, the staff at Alex Public School would like to thank each of you for allowing us to be a part of your child's life. We are humbled and honored to be able to share in the education of each of our students and look forward to the successful end of our first semester this year!
Sincerely,
Nicole Bauman
Elementary Principal
