ALEX, OKLAHOMA - Alex FFA members traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to attend the 96th National FFA Convention the first week of November. During the convention, Abby Pettijohn was recognized on stage as a Top 10 Finalist in the Environmental Services Division of the National Agriscience competition.
Sage Heldermon, Abby Pettijohn, Lynnden Mowdy, Easton Chambers, Ray Pettit, Conner Harrison, Carter Chambers, Hays Heldermon, Kayla Venable, with FFA Advisor Guy Heldermon and chaperones, left for convention on Tuesday, October 31. Wednesday, November 1, the students visited Pool Fisheries, Inc., one of the nation’s largest producers of goldfish. They learned about the company’s processes for hatching, growing, processing, and shipping goldfish.
While in Indianapolis the group visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where they “kissed the bricks,” and the Indianapolis Zoo before attending two general sessions of the National FFA Convention and the National FFA Trade Show.
During the fourth general session, Abby Pettijohn and Guy Heldermon were recognized and received 9th place in her division of the Agriscience competition. Following that session, Pettijohn presented her poster during the Agriscience Fair to industry professionals.
