I graduated from Tipton High School in Tipton, Oklahoma in 1976. I graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in May of 1980 with a BS degree in Elementary Education.
I have an Elementary Education degree with the following additional certifications:
Early Childhood Education, Physical Education, Blind/Visual Impairment, Mild-Moderate Disabilities, and Social Studies
I have recently completed the following:
My first teaching position was Remedial Reading teacher at Alex Elementary in 1980. After that first year, I decided to be a stay at home mom. In 1983, an administrator friend of mine in Chickasha had a 4th grade teacher adopt a baby one month after school started, and he asked me to fill in for that year. When the term ended, I decided once again to stay at home. In 1990, I was accepted into nursing school. I graduated from CVVT as an LPN in 1992 and immediately took a school nursing position at Bridgecreek Public Schools. Budget cuts forced the district to terminate the nursing position, so I accepted a teaching job in 1994. I spent 16 years with the district. In 2008, I had the opportunity to take a teaching job at Middleberg Public Schools. After 7 years, with 23 years experience, I made the decision to retire. Just a few months after retirement in 2015, I was blessed to be offered a job where my career began – at Alex. I am proud to once again be a Longhorn and the HS Resource teacher.
My husband Lewis and I met at SWOSU. We married in 1979 and made our home in Alex, OK. Our 3 daughters attended school in Middleberg, and then graduated from Alex High School – where their dad and his 5 siblings had also graduated.
Lewis and I have 3 wonderful grandsons and 1 beautiful granddaughter. We enjoy living in this small town and being a part of a community with such a rich history and familial connection.
